EO at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

As you may have noticed, I have been wonderfully busy with event photography in the last month. Just before Thanksgiving I got to join EO at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for a backstage tour, a short lecture, and a private reception before the show. Check out some of the photos below!

Give me a call if you’d like me to cover your holiday event this year!
Ware + Associates

One of the things I love about my job is the opportunity I get to build friendships with returning clients. I have gotten the pleasure of working with David and Kristen Ware of Ware + Associates for close to three years now. My work for them has primarily been to photograph their architectural projects for display in their portfolio as they complete them. For example, I recently photographed a new retail center they designed in Sandy Springs, GA -
Belle Isle Square:

So, this last month I got to celebrate with the Wares as they and a talented team of about a dozen others got awarded for building, designing and maintaining the first platinum LEED certified spa in the United States – Natural Body Spa in Brookhaven. In their own words, “the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.” In short, it’s a big deal that they were certified platinum – the highest LEED rating given out! Here are a couple of shots from the awards ceremony – which proved that it was a joy for all involved to work at being ‘green’ – shown through abundant laughter and smiles. Congrats again, David and Kristen!

Jimmy Stanton and the Christmas House

In addition to owning Stanton Home Furnishings, Jimmy Stanton is also a talented and successful interior designer here in Atlanta. I have had the pleasure of working with him for several years on various projects that he has been a part of. One place that you can currently see is simple, stately design that emphasizes found objects and raw materials is at the 2009 Atlanta Christmas House. I highly recommend it if you are into interior design or art, as the whole mansion is expertly decorated and absolutely decked out with intriguing paintings, sculptures and fine furniture. Each area and space showcases the design skills of one of the 20 plus designers they invited to participate. Get a sneak peak of Jimmy’s uniquely designed space below…

Sarah + Jason

One of my good friends from college, Sarah, got married this weekend to a wonderful guy named Jason. They invited us all down to Jekyll Island to celebrate their wedding on the beach in gorgeous, warm weather. It was nice for me to be able to get a different perspective with some of the photos, as I wasn’t their photographer, but instead just a guest. I loved how the image above came out as I shot through the guests in front of me.
The reception that followed was so much fun, that I put down the camera and spent the following hours just trying to keep up with the dance floor full of premium salsa dancing. Jason’s family’s Cuban heritage definitely brought in some impressive hip moving action…

Congrats again, Sarah and Jason!
Take it all in, Give it all back

To say that the business men at the Georgia Aquarium are ‘marketing masters’ would be an understatement. Seriously, it was genius to make the ‘the world’s largest aquarium’ an event space that could be rented out in during after hours for private parties and tours. Absolute genius.

I’ve been wanting to shoot an event there for some time and finally got my chance a few weeks ago when one of my regular clients, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), hosted an event there with world renowned National Geographic photographer Dewitt Jones. Double bonus!

Dewitt Jones’s speech was incredible – definitely make the time to see it if you are ever given the opportunity. It’s not just a slideshow of pretty pictures (though there is some of that) but he makes it so much more – leaving us all with the charge to go back to the simple task of a single breath – Taking it all in. And then giving it all back.
He’s also one of the best public speakers I’ve seen to genuinely engage with the audience after speaking. He even made some time to show me a thing or two. Highly recommended.
