Grafite
Gavin and Alyssa of Grafite are two of my designers ever. They do store design with an emphasis on using found and recycled objects, as far as I can understand. The short answer is that they have an incredible eye for detail and sustainability. This week, I got to photograph one of their recent store fronts – Aviary. They used wood from an old barn and incorporated yellow stripes and handmade art to make a killer salon store space. Check them out.
Octane – Emory Village
It’s no secret that Octane Coffee is Atlanta’s best-reviewed and highest-respected coffee bar. They’ve recently expanded and now have two locations in the Atlanta area – westside and Emory village. Well, it’s embarrassing to admit, but I actually hadn’t made it over to their new location until Tony asked me to come get a few photos for them. I tell you honestly, I am blown away by how great it is. They have this amazing porch that will be afternoon daydream of any college professor or student stuck in a stuffy classroom in the spring. And on top of that, the space looks great; the staff is warm, friendly, sleek and stylish; and they serve up the standard Octane best-coffee-in-Atlanta. I highly recommend that you head over there and enjoy a Chemex on the porch.
Ware + Associates

One of the things I love about my job is the opportunity I get to build friendships with returning clients. I have gotten the pleasure of working with David and Kristen Ware of Ware + Associates for close to three years now. My work for them has primarily been to photograph their architectural projects for display in their portfolio as they complete them. For example, I recently photographed a new retail center they designed in Sandy Springs, GA -
Belle Isle Square:

So, this last month I got to celebrate with the Wares as they and a talented team of about a dozen others got awarded for building, designing and maintaining the first platinum LEED certified spa in the United States – Natural Body Spa in Brookhaven. In their own words, “the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.” In short, it’s a big deal that they were certified platinum – the highest LEED rating given out! Here are a couple of shots from the awards ceremony – which proved that it was a joy for all involved to work at being ‘green’ – shown through abundant laughter and smiles. Congrats again, David and Kristen!
